What are they?

This section includes Noctuid moths in the subfamilies Oncocnemidinae, Amphipyrinae and Stiriinae. They are a rather varied bunch but are mostly rather drab grayish or light brown species, though some have green shades while members of the Stiriinae (the seedcoppers) can be yellowish in color. Most of the larvae are green or brown with lighter lines, but a few are more brightly colored.

Identification

Though mostly rather drab moths, they are a variable group and usually quite readily identifiable by wing markings.
