Small Catocalines
What are they?
A small group of heavily-marked, usually cryptically-colored, forest moths. Though quite closely related to the underwing moths, externally they don't really resemble them much. The Fungus Moths in this group get their name from the larvae of several species which favor feeding on bracket fungi. Some species also feed on lichen and algae on tree trunks and leaf litter.
Identification
Rather small moths which could easily be mistaken for members of the Geometridae. However, the wings are usually less obviously banded and more speckled.
